Hey guys, today I have a very short and simple tutorial that I feel has been done on many websites, but it can’t hurt to post one on here as well. Today, we are going to eliminate most of the “pimples” and other face and or neck blemishes from our subject. These few steps can improve the look of your portraits, and personal pictures.

What you need:

Photoshop CS2/3/4

This is a picture I took in my school studio last week, the model has a fair complexion with some problems that good ole’ photoshop can fix.

Lets start by zooming in on our subject to get a better view of his “problems”.

Next, lets go in and start removing his blemishes.

Select your Clone Stamp tool. (S on Keyboard)

Find your blemished area, take your Clone Stamp and hold down Option or Alt next to the area you want to fix. You will notice your brush circle will change to a crosshair. Select the area closest to the blemish.(Please note: Make sure your brush size is close to the size of the zit, pimple, or blemish.)

After you’ve selected your area, click on the area you want to remove.

Its gone!

After some work, you can get rid of everything and it should look like this.

Fonts:

Open up your web browser and go to one of the following websites:
www.dafont.com
www.1001freefonts.com
(there are more out there, but these seem to work the best for me)

Find a font you like, and hit download:

After the download has finished in your downloads window. Open up your downloads folder.

Double click on the folder, and click on the “.ttf ” file. You should then be greeted with a Font Book window and a button that says “install font” in the lower right hand corner. Now you are done, and your font is installed!

Please note, with older versions of Photoshop and Illustrator you must completely quit out of photoshop for the font to be usable. CS3 and above don’t usually have that problem, but if you can’t find your font in your font list… you now know why.

The first thing that you are going to need to do is create a project. It doesn’t matter what size, the effect will look all the same. Once you have your pallet open, fill the background with a dark gray color. #585858 works quite well. Make sure that all of this editing is done on the same, one layer. Next, you want to add some “noise” or static to your project by going to Filter>Noise>Add Noise. I use around 25-30, you can use however much you want, depending on how you want the effect to look. Next step is taking that noise and stretching it out to make it look like a metal texture. This is done through your filter tab, Filter>Motion>Motion Blur. I used about 21 pixels. As you might see, you get a crappy edge around your project..to get rid of that grab the Rectangular Marquee Tool, or (M) on the keyboard, and make a square a bit inside your project. Try to make the Marquee Box as even as possible, all the way around. You will see “marthing ants”, now click Comand>T, or Transform and drag out the corners of your Marquee Box to the edges of your project, to get rid of the nasty edge. Get rid of the marching ants my clicking Command>D, for deselect. We are almost done! The last step to makeing this look great is adding Lighting Effects to your project. Do this by going to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects. From there you will set it as default, move light to your desired position, and press ok. And there you will have your Brush Metal Effect!
